Cotton Sarashi Fabric in Light Indigo by BUAISOU

This indigo-dyed cotton Sarashi fabric has a soft, gauzy texture and slightly open plain-weave, creating a medium-weight fabric that is ideal for small home projects, such as kitchen towels, and repairs, such as sashiko stitching.Sold by the 1/4 yard.

Each piece is individually handmade and dyed. As a result, natural variations in color, texture, and pattern are to be expected. BUAISOU uses a roll-press machine to ensure that the color is as even as possible when lifting long pieces of fabric from their indigo vats. Due to the nature of indigo-dyeing, dye transfer may occur with use.

This Sarashi fabric is also available from BUAISOU in dark indigo.

    ABOUT BUAISOU
BUAISOU was established in Tokushima Prefecture in 2015.All processes, which were traditionally divided into separate specializations, are carried out within BUAISOU; from cultivating the raw indigo, fermenting the indigo leaves (Sukumo), dyeing, designing, all the way to production. They also make efforts in introducing the charm of natural indigo through offering workshops and other various activities. Indigo dyeing is characterized by deep beautiful color and fastness. This is achieved using only indigo leaves, lye, bran, and shell lime. BUAISOU produces a high quality line of goods, from jeans to stitch materials.
