Skinny Inset Strip: Hand Sewn Quilting Series IV

This class is part of the five-part virtual Hand Sewn Quilting Series IV. Classes may be purchased individually at $75 or as a five-part package for a discounted price of $350.

This intriguing technique allows you to add a line drawing effect to your sewing and can be used for improv or precision piecing. In this class, you'll learn to hand piece Drunkard’s Path blocks with and without skinny inset strips using Jenny's Drunkard's Path templates. Jenny will show you how to sew and trim the different blocks that make up this simple but striking design that looks great as a single circle or multiplied for those of you who’d like a long term slow-stitching project.

The paper version of the templates used in class are included but, if you
decide only the Acrylic templates will suffice, you can find more information on where to get them here. The Acrylic templates are highly recommended for ease and accuracy, especially if you are passionate about precision.

Our Teacher

Jenny Haynes (née Nilsson) studied Pattern Cutting and Tailoring in Stockholm followed by Fashion and Textiles at the London College of Fashion before fully turning her attention to quilts under the name Papper, Sax, Sten. She challenged the traditional approach to quilting, pushing the boundaries and thereby defining a style which has become synonymous with Jenny Haynes and has notably influenced established & experimental designers.

Jenny’s quilts and patterns have been published in numerous magazines, she has exhibited her quilts in art galleries around the world and has won awards at QuiltCon, the largest quilt show in the world for modern quilts. Jenny has collaborated with multiple artists including renowned Scottish textile artist and designer, Donna Wilson, producing a range of quilt patterns based on Donna’s product range but incorporating Jenny’s trademark style. In 2017 the V&A Museum in London, along with the publishers Thames & Hudson, asked her to contribute to the book ‘Patchwork & Quilting’.

When Jenny isn’t designing quilts, she gives talks and workshops for guilds, museums and textile venues around the globe. The craftsmanship, skill and modern take on quilting and design are the primary reasons given in the invitations she receives from museums and art retreats across the world. She counts amongst her masterclass venues, prestigious institutions like the V&A (London), Textiel Museum (the Netherlands) and Grampians Textiles (Australia) as her proudest engagements.
