Perfect for the beginner and the seasoned quilter alike (and if you’ve already joined our past Hand-Sewn Quilting Series), the Hand-Sewn Quilting Series III takes students on a journey of different forms of hand-sewn quilt construction, from Hawaiian Quilting to Zhuang Patchwork Quilting. Rooted in the diverse history of quilting and taught by contemporary textile artists, this series combines enduring quilting techniques with new voices and approaches.

Beginners will come away with a newfound confidence in their quilting ability and a deeper understanding of the medium. More experienced makers will expand their textile horizons, as well as gaining new skills to use on personal projects. Experiencing the series as a whole is sure to provide a comprehensive foundation and will get you well on your way in a joyful practice of hand-sewn quilting.

Our Teacher

Pat Gorelangton was born and raised in Hawaii, and except for living in Texas for 10 years, has lived there all her life. While working full-time in her family’s laundry business and raising 3 kids, Pat found that quilting gave her the “quiet time” she needed. She has been quilting for almost 40 years, and while she has made a number of patchwork quilts and dabbled in Baltimore album quilts and trapunto, her passion is Hawaiian quilting. Pat has been a member of the Poakalani Quilt Group for 17 years. One of Pat’s wall hangings is part of an exhibit at the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford, England, and the Auckland Museum in New Zealand recently acquired one of her king-size quilts. You can find more of Pat’s work on Instagram, or on the Poakalani website.

*All classes in this series will be recorded. A link to the recording will be emailed to all students following the live session. You may purchase the series as a whole even after the classes have begun. You will be emailed the recordings upon sign-up.
