Embroidered Fabric Vase

Join us to play with form, function, and fabric in this clever class! Create a fabric vessel using Jody Alexander's whirligig approach to fabric piecing and personalize your vessel by drawing with stitches.

Our teacher will begin the workshop by practicing four different running embroidery stitches on strips of cloth: straight stitch, backstitch, whipped running, and couching stitch. These running stitches are perfect for “writing” or “drawing” with thread. The cloth pieces will then be hand stitched together to form this clever container that fits a tin can, glass jar, or old water bottle to decoratively hold your pencils, brushes, knitting needles, or other tools.

By sizing up the pattern, which will be discussed during the workshop, the container becomes a great bucket or project bag. This is a great project for using up cloth scraps to make a special object for yourself or a loved one!
