This class is part of the six-part virtual Mending Series II. Classes may be purchased à la carte at $75 or as a six-part package for a discounted price of $400. 

Join Dante Gonzalez for a unique mending class where you'll learn to transform worn-out clothing into bespoke works of art. Dante will guide students through the process of using various weaving patterns to mend fabrics, adding decorative and durable repairs. Discover how to create beautiful, intricate designs while extending the lives of your favorite garments.

Cost

$75 for the individual class
$400 for the series

Suggested Class Materials

  • Needle (preferably larger/embroidery sized to fit embroidery floss)
  • Embroidery floss (or similar thread) in contrasting colors, preferably different than the garment for visibility
  • Fabric/a garment, preferably of a medium weave (denim, knit, stretch, or very lightweight fabrics not recommended for beginners) 
  • Embroidery hoop (or a darning mushroom if working in a small/tricky area)
  • Scissors/snips
  • Paper and pencil if creating/tracking a pattern

Our Teacher

Dante Gonzalez is an NYC-based artist from Texas with a focus on costume design, writing, and performance. 

Dante brings color, queerness, and drama to the stage and screen, with particular passion for new plays, operas, and the occasional Shakespeare. 

To Dante, gender, like art, is to becarried fragrantly and flagrantly,
openly and preferably near anopen flame. Many mediums and
many hats are Dante's happy place.

*All classes in this series will be recorded. A link to the recording will be emailed to all students following the live session. You may purchase the series as a whole even after the classes have begun. You will be emailed the recordings upon sign-up.
