Make Thrift Mend: Stitch, Patch, Darn, Plant-Dye & Love Your Wardrobe by Katrina Rodabaugh

MAKE THRIFT MEND was inspired by Katrina’s personal art project and fast-fashion fast of the same name. The project was conceived in 2013 to create solutions in her personal wardrobe regarding the environmental crisis in the fashion industry. Since then, she’s learned a great deal about sustainability (there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach), and she combined her learnings with her passion for secondhand clothing, simple sewing projects, redesigning with natural dyes, and mending garments to create the projects and writings in this book. Woven throughout the book are stories, essays, and a slow fashion call-to-action, encouraging readers to get involved or deepen their commitment to changing the habit of overconsumption. Rodabaugh has an engaged community (her kits are in high demand and her classes sell out quickly) and a proven ability to tempt sewists and non-sewists alike to pick up a needle and thread.
