Nine Patch Quilt Holiday Ornament Kit

This TATTER-curated kit supports the Nine Patch Ornament Class, and includes the materials you need to make two ornaments! We are excited to highlight the more festive fabrics from our dear friend the Green Lady's Scraptacular collection. While we cannot offer personal fabric selection, the fabrics you receive are all completely delightful! We encourage you to design the layout of your ornament at will. Trim and rearrange any of the fabrics provided for your own desires!

The kit includes:

  • (2) 4.5"x4.5" pieces of linen, for backing
  • (2) 4.5"x4.5" pieces of muslin
  • (2) 10"x10" pieces of vintage fabric, for piecing
  • (2) 10x10" pieces of green linen, for piecing
  • (1) 8" strip of bias tape, for top loops
  • (1) sashiko needle
  • (Approx 2) cups of dried balsam
  • (1) skein of tatter embroidery thread

This kit does not include:

  • Hand sewing needles
  • Hand sewing thread
  • Snips or shears
  • A clear ruler

In this workshop, participants will hand stitch their own nine patch quilt block, experimenting with composition and color. A ribbon loop and fragrant filling (lavender or balsam fir) will then be added to create a festive ornament. Alternatively, the finished block can be used as a decorative patch for a favorite pair of jeans or a tote. These blocks can also be collected and combined into a larger project — such as a pillow, wall hanging, or quilt — offering endless creative possibilities.

This class is open to all skill levels. Basic hand stitching techniques will be covered, including back stitch, combo stitch, and running stitch.

No previous experience is necessary. This class is great for beginners!
